Ein gemeinsames Prinzip der aktuellen Stile ist die Mischung sehr moderner mit sehr traditioneller Musik – darauf baut auch dieser Workshop auf: Im Zentrum stehen der klassische Maracatu de baque virado und andere traditionelle Rhythmen des Nordostens wie Baião, Coco und Forró. Diese werden mit zeitgenössischen Musikstilen verbunden. Bei diesem Workshop wird auch die Timba in die Grooves eingebunden, die neuerdings auch den Maracatu, Mangue Beat und Funkeado erobert hat. Die Snare nimmt einen wichtigen Teil im modernen Maracatu Groove ein und wird hier im Unterricht besonders hervorgehoben, sie gibt neue Breaks an und Alfaia Phrasierungen.

Probably the most innovative and energetic music scene in Brazil has developed in recent years in the Northeast of the country. This workshop offers both: Traditional rhythms like Maracatu de baque virado, Coco and Forró will be combined with styles of contemporary music.
